Field Engineer Intern

Position Summary

As a Field Engineer Intern with FS 360, you will work directly on construction sites, gaining hands-on experience in field operations. This internship offers exposure to the day-to-day activities involved in the planning, coordination, and execution of large-scale construction projects. The position is designed to develop your technical, problem-solving, and leadership skills by working alongside experienced project managers and/or superintendents.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintain accurate field logs, daily reports, and site photos to document progress, delays, and other key site activities.
  • Support the preparation of field documentation including RFI responses, work orders, and change orders.
  • Conduct field inspections to verify that work complies with construction drawings and specifications.
  • Identify and report any issues or discrepancies on-site that could affect the project’s quality, timeline, or safety.
  • Assist in maintaining a punch list, ensuring all deficiencies are documented and corrected before project completion.
  • Assist in enforcing on-site safety policies and procedures, performing regular safety inspections.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and help ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Support the implementation of corrective actions for any identified safety hazards.
  • Work closely with subcontractors, foremen, and the superintendent to facilitate effective communication and coordination on-site.
  • Participate in daily or weekly site meetings, providing updates on field activities and potential issues.
  • Help resolve field-related issues by collaborating with design engineers, project managers, and other team members.
  • Assist in monitoring the daily schedule to ensure construction activities are on track and critical path milestones are met.
  • Help track the productivity of subcontractors and crews, ensuring work is progressing efficiently and within the planned timeline.
  • Participate in forecasting and resolving potential schedule conflicts that may impact project delivery.
  • Assist in overseeing material deliveries, ensuring that materials are properly stored, used, and recorded.
  • Track equipment usage and coordinate with the site team for equipment needs, rentals, and returns.
  • Verify that construction equipment is used safely and correctly on-site.
  • Gain exposure to various field engineering functions, learning the technical aspects of civil, structural, and mechanical systems.
  • Actively seek mentorship from superintendents, and other site staff to deepen your understanding of construction operations.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities offered by the company.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Strong interest in construction site operations and field engineering.
  • Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
