The Project Engineer assists the Project Manager and Project Executive(s) in obtaining, evaluating, coordinating, and distributing the information and authorizations necessary to construct the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified. In the performance of this function the Project Engineer is responsible for protecting and promoting the interests of both the business and client in all matters as well as demonstrating the personal and professional characteristics of a developing leader.
Document Control and Project Reporting. Ensure the establishment and maintenance of contract documents throughout the project duration. Coordinate with relevant parties, including the owner, project manager, and architect. Manage and distribute contract documents, including drawings, specifications, bulletins, Requests for Information (RFI), submittals, and other project correspondence. Provide project reporting assistance and maintain document control by managing procurement logs, shop drawing logs, material tracking logs, inspection reports, compliance report logs, and meeting minutes.
Bid Package and RFQ Management. Write comprehensive scopes of work for bid packages and effectively issue Request for Quotations (RFQ), followed by diligent follow-up with trade contractors.
Project Plan Interpretation. Interpret project plans, specifications, and details. Ensure accurate understanding and implementation by subcontractors and A/E partners.
Permit Acquisition and Compliance. Assist in obtaining and maintaining all necessary construction permits, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Schedule and Procurement Support. Contribute to construction schedule updates, material delivery tracking, and procurement activities.
Submittal Management. Manage the submittal process, including registry setup, obtaining approvals, and preparation of transmittal forms. Coordinate the packaging, review, and processing of submittals, while expediting submittals to align with the project schedule.
Subcontractor Pay Application Review. Review subcontractor's pay applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with contractual terms.
Project Closeout. Oversee and assist with the closeout phase of the project. Coordinate necessary tasks and documentation, and manage subcontractor details, such as insurance verification, paperwork preparation, and final payment requests.
